At the beginning of the 17th century, the Princes of Starhemberg built a magnificent castle on a rock in Durnstein, Wachau, the most beautiful part of the Danube.

In the background stands the ruins of a castle where Richard the Lionheart lived. The castle, built in 1630, is a 5-star hotel owned by the Thiery family.
